hearing lots of radio checks and mention of jordan lake. call signs are numbers.
anyone heard of any drills or training going on?

active again from 1230 till 2.
jordan lake and the state park talked about.
talked about dosemeters ( i know its spelled wrong, you know what im talking about) giveing readings and doing a search useing the meters. (i used to teach that stuff)

at ~2PM told everyone to return to base.

have to watch the news tonight.

Only training/drill's I'm aware of is SMAT has been at DCCC for the past week or so for a drill/deployment exercise and they're packing it up this evening/tomorrow so, may be part of that. I dunno if the SMAT uses VIPER though, probably, but dunno.

SMAT has quite a handful of talkgroups.

7 Ops channels under the SMRS allotment on the VMN.
A statewide calling channel,
Statewide use of the UHF NCMCN system (slowly disappearing)
Along with a handful of simplex UHF channels as well.

Keep an ear out for Quake on the Blue Ridge this weekend. Although we relied heavily on UHF simplex for our ops last year, the state did assign us 4 events talkgroups to coordinate across a wide-area between the actual quake site and the command post.
