Only training/drill's I'm aware of is SMAT has been at DCCC for the past week or so for a drill/deployment exercise and they're packing it up this evening/tomorrow so, may be part of that. I dunno if the SMAT uses VIPER though, probably, but dunno.
SMAT has quite a handful of talkgroups.
7 Ops channels under the SMRS allotment on the VMN.
A statewide calling channel,
Statewide use of the UHF NCMCN system (slowly disappearing)
Along with a handful of simplex UHF channels as well.
Keep an ear out for Quake on the Blue Ridge this weekend. Although we relied heavily on UHF simplex for our ops last year, the state did assign us 4 events talkgroups to coordinate across a wide-area between the actual quake site and the command post.
