Running Unitrunker tonight on the NCSHP Training Center Viper Tower noticed two talk groups not in the database. They were 46542 and 46547. Those numbers fall in the Wake County range.

Wondering if those are the talkgroups Marshall was talking about being added after the move?

Wine Springs Site

Well for starters, have you tried searching for a new control channel?

I have only tried the other listed frequencies for that site. Having ruled them out, I'll attempt searching for other frequencies because that site should always be in my range. My base station is at 2,800' with a clear line-of-site view of Wayah Bald where Wine Springs is located.

Let me do some more clarification:
1) Wake County is not "adding" any talkgroups to VIPER. On the contrary Wake County is trying to reduce their footprint on VIPER.
2) Remember that Wake County has an agreement with the town of Cary to use a part of Cary's core on the Cary P25 radio system.
3) With the above being said: Wake County has a zone of talkgroups on VIPER for backup purposes called the "VW" zone of talkgroups. These talkgroups are listed in the database and, except for Wake Sheriff Dispatch patch, are rarely used. The 2 talkgroups you list above fall into the Wake Sheriff range of talkgroups are were probably used only for a few mins while the Wake Radio System was undergoing its upgrade.

Pro 197 vs. BCD536 on site

This morning I was comparing the Meadows Mountain site on my BCD536 vs the RS Pro 197. I was running 4 sites in the area on the BCD536, and only the Meadows site on the Pro 197. I was interested to learn how much overlap exists, if any, since I am still trying to learn about site reception.
I observed that multiple times, an encrypted tg such as 52336, would be received easily on the 197, while nothing was received on the BCD536 during the encrypted transmission. Other tg's came in equally well on both, many times over. Certainly I'm not saying either radio is defective, I just find it interesting that encryption makes a difference on VIPER regarding which radio is being used... That's my half cent worth of input for the day, take care

Unidens mute encryption and skip over an encrypted channel. RadioShack scanners stay on an encrypted channel and attempt to decode the signal giving a garbled/broken glass sound. Your scanners are acting as they should.

Running Unitrunker on the NCSHP tower in Garner today. Got multiple hits on TG 52218 about 2:20 this afternoon. The two RIDs used appear to be SHP. I did not see the TG listed in RR database. Anyone have a clue?

Is there a way to separate out who is simulcasting their VHF/UHF frequencies to VIPER on the link below? Because of the paging issues, I know lots of fire and EMS dispatch channels are going across VIPER as well as the VHF/UHF dispatch but some may have abandoned their VHF/UHF altogether or only for backup purposes. In some counties this information is spelled out, others not so much.

No one has taken the time to go county by county and map that out.
Each county is unique and VIPER usage varies greatly.

Added information to some of the counties I'm familiar with. Hopefully others can add/update their counties.

''Where is the viper wiki page at? When I am on the viper page, I click on the wiki and nothing shows up?"

You must have missed the link from the earlier post:
