After going through my old CAP radio paperwork the other day, I found a handwritten note about the VDF, I was doing direction-finding training in Prince William Forest Park (this was a few years ago now) and VDF was there as well doing some other training.

They did have radios, and I remember talking to one of their operators about their frequencies. Apparently their primary is 150.450 CSQ simplex and 150.700 CSQ for simplex as their secondary, for both mobiles and base stations. (according to my notes).

What I would like to know is, does anybody have any experience with this organization or monitoring them? Seems pretty interesting.

From their own web site:

The Virginia Defense Force (VDF) is the Commonwealth's military reserve. The force is governed by the military laws of Virginia and managed by the Virginia Department of Military Affairs. The chain of command for the force consists of the Governor of Virginia (Commander-in-Chief), Adjutant General of Virginia, and Commanding General of the Virginia Defense Force.

VADF and 37.92

The VADF is also licensed on 37.92 at Fort Pickett, check the callsign WQIA873 and Site 4.

Check the VHF Communications link on this URL s6_shop
Scroll down the page for their authorized frequencies. The VADF often does traffic control at civilian functions and were active with a mobile command post during the Governor's inauguration.

Lots of useage of FRS channels for traffic control and parking at events. Each sector has its own channel assignment.

From a few years ago when I did two-way installs at a local shop, 150.450 is channel 1 and 150.700 is channel 2 and as you stated carrier squelch. These were for a Motorola Micor mobile and I remember ordering the elements for that radio.
