Hello,

Three questions please:
Using a Uniden SDS 200 with a relatively new W10 pc

a. Have been playing around with the Virtual Control with ProScan, and also with
Butel ARC 536 PRO.

After all sorts of problems, due to my ignorance, with the COMM Ports, have finally gotten both
to function. I am very reluctant now to change anything, but I think this is probably a
valid concern. Seem as if the Unit to pc comms isn't all that it might be regarding speed.
The BAUD Rate is now set at 9600.

Should I try higher BAUD rates ? What's a "good" and appropriate number ?

Any other setting under the COMM Port settings in the W10 Device Manager that I should perhaps also check ?

b. I know ProScan has this option, but is it possible to implement the unit to pc communication
via the LAN/Ethernet Port on the SDS 200 with Butel ARC 536 PRO ?

I understand if done this way, the audio will also be piped to the pc, which would be helpful.

Any other advantage, such as speed, or... ?

If so, how to do it, please, and what settings, etc. ?
Really explicit how-to would really be appreciated. Not too sharp with this "stuff" anymore.

c. And, irrespective of the above, can I take the headphone output from the SDS 200 and plug it
into the pc so I can use its speakers ?

What pc plug would I use ?
Any potential grounding problems, etc. ?

Much thanks,
Bob

If you use ProScan, you can pipe digital audio through the data connection when connected via LAN. Much better than headphone jack, no extra cable needed.

Hello,
Thanks for help; really needed, and very appreciated.

Playing with ProScan now on new SDS200. (relatively new W10 pc)

Other than it has audio capability, any other (significant) advantage to
using the LAN/Ethernet hookup rather than the Serial ?

Using serial, which seems to work fine.
Initially tried with the LAN/Ethernet hookup, but all sorts of COMM Port problems, and it locked
up my eMails on my iMac. So, went to the Serial arrangement.
But, am willing to try again, if any significant advantages ?

The virtual display is terrific.
Trying to learn some of the zillions of other options on it.
Again, thanks for help,
Bob

Serial is slower than LAN, and doesn't support audio streaming. Getting LAN working is worth the trouble, just for the digital audio support. You'll get cleaner recordings, and no extra cable for audio.
