Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Only /\/\ radios I'm aware of that allow user end programming of the scan lists, are those with limited or full keypad's and displays... Both of which the Visar doesn't have. (The 2 digit channel display doesn't count.)

You can easily program your own scan list on the fly with a HT1000. It's all in how you program the radio initially. Most agencies did not want users to be able to program thier own scan list so that was not enabled.

It's been a long time since I fooled with Visar's, but they are nothing more than a HT1000 with the board foled in half. May or may not work........

Note the HT1000 and Visar are even programmed with the same software.

Yup, mine is on the ABC Switch the and the green button on the side, so I can program the scan list right there. :)

Except that the visar doesn't have an ABC switch and there are only 2 side buttons plus the PTT. I have seen the option in the RSS but was never able to firure out how to have enough buttons to do the function after I assigned the blue one as the light and the other as monitor.
