My family and I will be visiting Disney World the end of next week and I was wondering whether or not it will be worth bringing my Pro-164 scanner with me. I know Florida has a no scanner law and by looking at the database, it seems that just about everything in and around Orlando is digital and encrypted. Are there still any interesting things to listen to for those of us with an analog scanner?

It's not worth it to me... I make the trip to Disney several times a year and used to bring my scanner with me. I enjoyed listening to security and Reedy Creek Fire in the evenings before I went to bed. Now that security is on Nextel and Reedy Creek is encrypted for the most part it's not worth it for me. I was never one to take the scanner with me during the day though. I think you can still hear some Orange and Osceola County traffic along with parade mics.

Thanks. The more I think about it, the more I will probably leave it at home. I didn't know if there was any military traffic to pick up in the area. A lot of that is digital also, I believe.

True, there are some things that you can't monitor anymore, but Osceola and especially Orange County SO/FR provide non-stop listening action.

curious, when did florida go to a no scanner law? that seems kinda bogus to say you cannot have a scanner, that takes the fun out

I was going down to lake wells and passing orlando, its more GMRS traffic then ever but going past disney land, lots of FRS action
