Visiting the Keys in June 2005 - Seeking a resident for help

Looking for someone who lives in or visits frequently Key West and/or Marathon. Would like to correspond about scanner info pertaining to Monroe County, especially Key West and Marathon.

Any current info or .p96 files appreciated. Any web sites dedicated to monitoring in the Keys also appreciated. Ham repeater info or active VHF/UHF ham frequencies also wanted.

If yo get now reply, go to the Monroe County website and Email the Fire Chief. He was a Deputy up here in Fairfax and is a real nice guy. Also a big fire buff, he may be able to help you out, Thier offices are in Marathon I believe.

I have spent a decent amount of time in the Keys.
I am not sure I can give you any infomation you would not find here, but I will give you what I can.

If you are interested in scanning the Monroe County Sheriff's office (the only Law Enforcement in the county--outside of the Key West PD and Key Colony Beach PD--both on the trunked system) the best source for information is the website: www.keysso.net. A GREAT GREAT site for info.

In these days of "increased security" and in the state of the encrypted Highway Patrol (God knows why)--seeing this much information on ANY Police website is truly refreshing.

I know very little about the FD/EMS dispatching.

The FHP is on the East Coast Motorola system (available on this website) still digital but not encrypted--yet)
The talkgroup of Monroe County is the "south" talkgroup, but to hear Monroe County, you will also have to deal with a LOT of southern Dade country as well. The traffic is about 85% Dade and 15% Monroe.
