I just got a new vista laptop and am trying to hook up my bc 396. I have a Uniden USB cable. I installed the Uniden scanner software along with the uniden vista driver for the cable. When I go to connect to the scanner it will connect for a second then go the screen will go black. When I restart my computer the issue is with the cable. Any suggestions on how to fix this.

Thanks

Mike

Quick question. You don't have a bunch of USB devices connected to the computer? USB hub or anthing like that? It seems to be like the is a possible driver conflict or power limitation. Could even have something to do with the ACPI with the video card causing a conflict.

Any time I buy a new computer I clean the drive. There could be bloatware causing issues as well.

IMO...Vista sucks  I have used it before, but man, too many problems, driver issues, games wouldn't work. I'll wait for Windows 7 and see what happens.
