I have my VHF handheld for mutual aid on V med28 and around 2 PM to 2:30 PM, or was multiple units with three digit IDs radio checking and having a rollcall calling “base”.

Some of the numbers were 173, 176, and I believe 353 among a assortment of others in the 150s, 160s, and 170s.

Does anyone know who this is?

I’m just north of Waco in the McLennan county area.

Update 1: this honestly sounds like school buses. I’ll update you as I listen but I’m gonna double check that my radio is not messed with as far as frequencies go but I seriously think there are school buses on VMED 28 right now. I haven’t use this radio to talk to a helicopter yet but I have listened while they landed and I could hear them perfectly fine, so I think it’s programmed right..

What PL/DPL are they using

VMED28 is 156.7 and there are still plenty of Legacy licenses for "Special Emergency" which Vets, Ambulances and Schools Bus/Transit fell under for many FCC years

I appreciate you looking into it, I’ll double check the programming on my radio and continue listening.
