BCD396XT/BCD996XT: Volume Control

I am having issues with my BCD996XT where I cannot turn down the volume. There are times where I need to lower the volume to where it's barely audible, but doing so with the volume control has little or no result. I often end up having to turn the radio completely off. Anyone have a suggestion?

Is the V=x value changing in the upper right corner?

The scanner only goes down to V=1, and there are several detents that show V=0.

The V-value does decrease down to 0, and then something like 4 clicks showing "00", but the actual volume level seems to stay the same.

If it stays the same throughout the entire range (lowest to highest), you might want to try a reset of the scanner.

If you are saying it does change, but only goes down so far and that's it, not sure what to say. Mine goes down all the way, but I do wish there were levels between 1 and 0.
