when feeds come through the scanner to the computer, they come out of the speakers also. is there a way i can stop that without turning the scanner all the way down? because other people use this computer and they dont want to hear the scanner while they listen to music.

Hi all, yep you can do it. if you have the scanner plugged into the mic or line in socket you can mute the appropriate output. i quiite often have PDW running on my main computer and i mute that output so the computer can process the signal but i can go on listening or streaming audio anyway.

Are you using the mic input or the line in input......depending on which you are using for your scanner will depend on which one you have to mute on the output.Bring up windows mixer by clicking on the speaker icon on the task bar then click or place a check mark in the mute box for either line in or mic input whichever one you are using for your scanner.Just be sure you don't mute the speaker because that will mute everything including the music you want to listen to.

You can also install a second sound card, which would give you more flexibility.
