Are you programming manually or do you have a software program to assist you? I have a 164 and use ARC 300 from Butel. I put in each system in a separate bank and then load the talkgroups. What city are you in. I'd be happy to help you in programming your 163.

Thank you Chad for your reply. I have tried it both ways.Would it be possible if you could explain a little further. Do I need to put all frequencies in a seperate bank, and do I need to put all talk groups in each bank?
Thanks in advance, R A Lavargna

As I said in my intitial response, I use ARC 300 from Butel Software. Here is how I have programmed the various banks in their program:

Bank 0--System 1
Bank 1--System 2
Bank 3-- DB
Bank 4--System 1
Bank 5-- System 2
Bank 6--DB

There are a total of 315 talkgroups. I have chosen 300 of them and broken them into two groups.

In bank 0 I selected as many talkgroups allowed. I put those same talkgroups in banks 1 and 2.
In bank 3 I selected the remaining talkgroups. I put those same talkgroups in banks 4 and 5.

In otherwords if you split the talkgroups into two groups, let's call them A and B, I put group A in banks 0, 1, and 2. I put group B in banks 3, 4, and 5.

Make sure the setting is set for EDACS and I use a closed bank setting.

In banks 6, 7, 8 and 9 I put other frequencies of interest to me such as air, local, etc.

I'm not sure this is the best way to do it or even the right way to do it. Maybe others have ideas that will help us both.
