I drove through the County on 95 about a week ago and couldn’t get a lock on their control channel. Last time before that I was only able to get a lock out West and the signal was weak.

I check about once a week and it's not strong enough to decode from my beachside location. I had plans to go over towards the 1 tower at that Seminole County firestation that's active but the 'Rona caused me to put those plans on hold.

I heard it loud and clear 3 weeks ago when I was in DeBary. VCSO 4/6 were active along with some other local tgs. Patched I presume. Nothing heard on the east side of the county.

It appears they've added a site in Bunnell and Debary, but it's on another license. The new Sanford site WQWG235 (3) is licensed for frequencies that WQWE318 (1) is not. Can someone more knowledgeable than I decipher what this means?

They have licensed the 14 freqs used currently for the West EDACS system to the Debary site, and the 16 freqs currently used for the East EDACS system to the Bunnell site. ( based on a quick review)

I should have explicitly asked: what is the actual site numbering? I was going to submit this to the database but since the licenses have overlapping site numbers, I didn't want to muddy anything up.

I had DSDPlus decoding the Volusia P25 system using the control channel listed in the data base for a short period this week and didn't see any messages concerning other sites in the logs. I saw a horseshoe throwing park located next to the Bunnell tower location today when checking it out on Google maps, so at some point a day trip up there to see what's coming off of the tower might be in order.

None of the east side frequencies are in use at the Bunnell site currently.

edit: I guess there's no rush to add the frequencies to the p25 system, we can keep an eye on it.

The “Debary” site is actually in Seminole County is for use on the south side of Debary that is south of Dirksen Dr/ Benson Junction Rd. unless the assignment is in that area there won’t be much heard on it. I am assigned to Support 33 (fire rehabilitation unit) and if we have a call on the southern fringe we have to take a different portable with us. We were informed that come mid 2021 our truck radio will be incompatible with the P25 system and as an infrequently used unit our radio will be the last to be changed.

Looks like the Volusia Bunnell site is a co-location with Flagler's system. The Volusia coverage north of the county line diminishes, and there's more development planned for the northern Ormond Beach/southern Flagler area. That's going to be interesting, since Flagler deployed Motorola and I've heard that Volusia will remain L3 Harris. The emissions on WQWG235 are all P25 phase 2, btw.

Volusia County Station 18 is shared by Volusia and Flagler counties and responds to both counties.

I have not spent a lot of time listening to this system - it's a bit far from me so I only get good copy during decent band openings.

I am far from a DSD+ expert, but if I understand correctly, all of these "0, 0000/00/00 0:00" entries are (I am told anyway) RADIO AFFILIATIONS - which to me means a radio was powered up on XYZ talkgroup. Why DSD+ doesn't log the date/time that event occurred, I do not know.

You can see that the only group I have actually logged traffic is TG 65122. This is a patch TG of some type/flavor.

If I could figure out DSD+ I could set something up in receive, but I've got the really old version and all of the documentation I can get my hands on is outdated and for the lack of a better word, "nebulous." It's all over the place. What I really need is to connect with a DSD+ guru who knows what they're doing and knows what kind of SDR receiver works with the current software so I could properly set something up. I had something running on the big Florida NXDN network using audio outputs from an Icom 910H, and it also worked with P25 phase 1, but it didn't work with trunked P25 or EDACS, and my RSP1 receiver doesn't work at all with it. Then again, I don't know what I'm doing, so there's that...

I'm far from the Sanford site, but could swing a Yagi out that way and probably hear it. I do have them in a 436HP and turn that on when I'm in the Orange City area. I'm more curious about what would happen in a full build-out. Chances are that the whole mapping plan would be revised, but anything could happen.

There are some TGs that are hardpatched to other trunked systems. I think there's a TAC channel that's hardpatched to Seminole County's trunked system, too, like TAC 9 is hardpatched to Flagler County's TAC 9, but I forget what that is.

Some radios sound like they have a wobbly digital artifact in the background. I'm wondering if these are P25 or LTE over the BeOn platform.
