I seen that before i came on here. It was my understanding is that there opening there own dispatch center. I highly doubt that RCC would have the resources to handle Daytona. I am not like bashing on RCC but from what i was told that RCC was actually down sizeing. It's also unknown how long the port orange police department will keep it open since it is still being operated out of the old P.D.

A year ago Volusia County Fire Services told the city of DeBary that they could no longer aford to provide fire service to the city. This forced DeBary into finding another provider and now contracts with Orange City for fire protection and Deltona for dispatching. The county department also threatened to close stations in more rural areas of the county. Now , they say that savings can be realized by having one big department. Make up thier minds already.

According to the Daytona Beach "Mullet Wrap" otherwise known as the News Journal it looks like the Consolidation of the Dispatch system will happen and rather quickly

Update:
County, cities progress on 9-1-1 unity - News

*snip*
While there are still a lot of details to work through, the early indications are positive. The mayors in Volusia County's two biggest cities have said they're interested in hearing more, and a meeting last week among managers at the county and Volusia's cities left them "cautiously optimistic," South Daytona City Manager Joe Yarbrough said.

Turf wars are stupid and wasteful.
Consolidation is the way to go. Saving taxpayer dollars while still providing stellar service is a great idea.
I don't know much about the Volusia Co. RCC but I am sure they can ramp up for what ever comes their way.

From a scanner listener aspect, if RCC gets absorbed into VCSO, im not gonna enjoy it. Knowing them there gonna jam pack LE 5 with everyone. RIght now VCSO dis 5, S. Daytona, Oak Hill, Shores, Beach patrol who knows else what they have on it now. Putting 2 more decent size departments may not by the way to go. Edgewater is small enough but still, NSB is a high traffic channel and i dont see the officers gonna be liking it when they cant talk on the radio as much as they need to.

When central gives calls out they dont explain much, which i kinda like about RCC because they put some call notes over the air and tiering up more traffic., even though it may be un professional.
