• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Vp8000 pricing is now available.

I just priced out a radio I would use for demos, but real customer use, you're look at msrp $8xxx.00 plus, ballpark with most of the bells and whistles.
Full keypad hi-vis green is available.

Is that list price?

Seems pretty high. I just ordered a couple of fully decked out Harris XL-200p's for about $2K less than that. That included all bands, the LTE/WiFi option, P25 1 and 2, encryption, BeON, big battery, speaker mic, charger, etc, etc...

MSRP = "List Price"

Thanks, missed that.

So, probably in the $5k to $6k range with NASPO. That seems a bit more reasonable, but higher than I was hoping. Was kind of expecting Kenwood/EFJ to come in a bit lower than the competition.

If they add NXDN, I'll be a bit more excited, maybe even consider it as a "Luxury" transceiver.

If it will cover more than one digital mode will definitely make it the Cadillac of portables. For the poor souls such as myself, I have a rather large stack of VHF, UHF, and 7-800 MHz radios on various modes I have to tote around to speak with our neighbors. It would be nice to just fly through zones and not have to juggle multiple radios. There isn’t much information on Kenwood’s website as of yet that I’ve been able to find - haven’t dug in too deep - but there is good potential. As for myself NXDN won’t be in the equation, but DMR and P25 definitely. We opted for all band APX Next, but I did advocate for Kenwood just because we have been Kenwood users for many many years. Unfortunately they are just a little too late on the scene.

They have some catching up to do.
Rumor is that Tait is right behind them with a similar radio that may include P25 and DMR.

Usually IWCE is when a lot of this stuff gets released, but Kenwood/EFJ was MIA this year.
APCO is coming up next month, maybe more info there.
