I would think that something that big, basically designed for HF, would overload it badly in many instances. The VR5000 doesn't have the best front end design to handle strong signals in the HF spectrum - there's a couple of reviews on the VR5000 Wiki page that suggest this.

I would go much shorter and simpler - a coax fed L, with a good grounding system, may well be the ticket. Not too long, though. Our Antennas wiki has a few designs you might want to consider. Even the Par SWL antenna might work pretty well. 73s Mike

Thank you for your advise, I will use it, I will be moving to a two story home soon and my shack will be up stairs, maybe I will look for something to use inside the shack.
