vscanner #3 for SD

I just bought a pro96 and accidentally deleted the preloaded vscanner #3, which is supposed to contain the settings for the SD state system. I've downloaded the "original" vscanner file from the win96 page, but that is Rev3 and does not include the SD info. Can anyone tell me where I can get that info or a copy of the file I need?

I was unaware that RS had included the SD System in the V-Folder Setups. Hmmm.

In any case, here is one that I had posted on the ScanSD group a little bit ago. It works pretty well. The state system is in Banks 1 & 2. You can add what you want elsewhere. Bank 0 is EMS stuff. The information is based on the data here on the RR site Database.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I was surprised to see there was no info on SoDak in the file I got from the Win96 site. It specifically said Rev3 so I assume the info contained in the book called "Preloaded Data Addendum" that came with my scanner is either older or newer than the info in the file.

I went to do the update to the dsp and found that it already had the update installed, so I'm guessing mine is newer. If I can find the same vscanner info that matches my radio, I'll have to compare the two and see what differences there are.

At any rate, thanks much for your help. My wife's family is from the Eagle Butte/Dupree area, so we go down there several times a year, plus we go to the Black Hills every summer at least once. I wonder if the BIA or the Reservation Police have any special freqs. Once I get more familiar with the Pro96 I'll have to do some serious searching next time I get down there.

My brother-in-law is Fire Chief of the Eagle Butte volunteer FD, so he has a handheld that scans. We heard a lot of activity on it this past weekend, and he said his county, which is Dewey County, has digital radios but that they don't like them and is still using the old stuff. If I find out anything good, I'll be sure to post it here.

In that case, I have no idea. It works when I do it either that way or just left clicking. :?

You can always join the ScanSD Yahoo group and download it from there. That is what I built if for to begin with. BTW I just checked the RS web site and I see that they have changed the adendum. V-Fldr 3, Bank 7 used to be Cedar Rapids TRS.

Yup, and I have not been able to find the Rev3 file.

I suppose there's something mis-set on my Explorer or firewall or some goofy thing. No biggie. I'll get it on yahoo.

Lou for some reason I have the same problem with files on this site

What I have to do is copy and paste the file name like so when I right click and save target as

Once you get it downloaded to the folder of your choice you have to right click on the file and choose rename. Then you just backspace out the .txt including the period so it looks like so

SDTRS_fr_ScanSD_a.p96

when a rename box pops up warning you if you change a file extension it may become unusable just click yes and it will change the file into a p96 file.

scnnr thanks for the tip. I asked Lindsay about it and he says that some versions of browsers don't handle MIME encoding quite the same. In any case, that explanation was great. :wink:

I just typed in the right name when it asked me where to save the file. Amounted to the same thing, but a little bit quicker, at least for me, and worked fine.
