I live in Hampton Roads and am programming a conventional scanner for a friend who lives in Tazewell County. Does anyone know if VSP is still utilizing Legacy channel 8 (WYTH_2) in Division 4? Thanks!
Just an educated guess but any use of legacy channels is "on borrowed time" if they are on at all. However, I would still have them programmed. Tell your friend he may not hear much but here they are.
When I passed through in July on I-81 Division 4/Wytheville was STARS-exclusive. The only multicasting to the legacy analog system I heard was on the Division 6/Salem channels. Keep in mind that the narrowband mandate coming down the pipe at the end of the year will probably kill the legacy channels unless they want to spend the money to narrowband them.

I will be staying in Wytheville for a day or two. From my research I assume that the best site for Stars is Elkin's Branch. Am I correct in this assumption? I will have a 396xt with me. Thanks in advance, Chuck
