I was scanning VSP's database a few minutes ago, and found a few freq's that I don't know what they are for.

I'll list them by call-sign:

KA5367
155.475
155.505
460.2625

KIC368
42.86

KNAA586
156.225
42.92

Anyone know what these are? I think the 2 low-band freq's are their old freq's. Are they still in use any?

155.475 is a nationwide law enforcement common channel. Some states (like Maine) use it a lot for car-to-car. I haven't heard anything on it since I moved to Virginia. It would make sense for the VSP to have a license for it though.

Low Band stuff is just left over from the old system, and it's not used routinely--incompatible with the current radio equipment.
HOWEVER, LoBand IS in the equipment in the mobile command post vehicles for comms with NCHP....
NLEEF 155.475 is used around the Richmond area by Riverside Regional Jail for Transport dispatching....

465.2625 is the freq for the motorcycle mobile extenders.

VSP FREQS.

42.86 and 42.88 mhz. as posted no longer are in use and considered training frequencies. 42.88 mhz. also is used by the NCHP in Raleigh that I can hear here near Petersburg. The transmitters are located in the Wytheville area. Too bad the VSP did not maintain multi band capability like the Tennessee Highway patrol. 156.225 mhz. supposedly was used or planned to be used in the NOVA area for unknown use. 155.505 mhz. currently is not used. I have never heard any VSP comms on it. 42.92 mhz. simplex some years ago was used as a VSP surveillance frequency but I doubt it is currently in use. I have heard only one surveillance comm on it. It is also used by the Florida Highway Patrol Marine division and has frequent activity as a band opening will show.

I didn't realize the motorcycles had a different frequency for mobile extender use- guess I figured it would be the same as cars, and I forgot about the NLECC.

/BA/ -- I don't know what you can or can't tell. Does VSP carry the NLEEC channel in the units?

Thanks guys. A lot of good info!

If it's something I am not s'pose to tell, I just wont answer...

BUUUUUT SERIOUSLY--

As far as 155.475 goes, it isn't programmed into any of the patrol vehicles, but again, it IS in the mobile command post vehicles, and I want to say it's saved in a memory slot in Aviation's Wulfsburg rigs.

And, off topic but of interest, since STARS wont be in full effect till 2009, it is rumored that patrol vehicles have their STARS rigs installed ALONGSIDE/ON-TOP-OF/BEHIND/UNDERNEATH the current Aerotron/GE radios. And laptops. And siren controllers. And portable chargers.
Good thing the CV is a roomy car...as for the Impala, maybe some of this stuff can be placed conveniently in the back seat. (Sarcastic?me?never!)

cheers
