At 11:15 PM 2/5/10 VSP was heard on 159.075 and 159.1425 "State Pd Stars" ID"ing as Fairfax and doing normal
traffic patrol ops. they appeared to be analog at that time. arvellabill

Are you sure those were the correct frequencies?

159.1425 (WPMU212) Hogback Mountain.listed in FCC as VSP PW Svc though not listed in STARS DB. Could be for Site 5 or 10 in database. 4 other towers are in Fairfax/Arlington/Quantico area.

159.075 has three listings for Sheriff/Police in Dickerson, I of W and Orange counties. All three are conventional..

I've never logged 159.1425 off of Hogback.

I'm wondering why STARS would be analog??

Could these be "bleedover" from the legacy sytem? The freqs reported are very close to the legacy outputs for the area reported. STARS activity wouldn't be in analog on freqs that close to the conventional outputs...er-I wouldn't think so anyway.

Sorry 159.0075 was the freq. and it is VSP fairfax

I feel totally ashame of my self I should have caught it sooner, it is bleedover from 159.000 in fairfax My only excuse is my old age and a little bit of stupidity. the fact that it was analog should have clued me in and I guess it was what finally made me turn on my old scanner and varify it. arvellabill
