Just heard Oklahoma County fire companies "switching to VTAC 11". I've been hearing CWIDers on some of the VTACs so maybe I need to pay more attention to which are active.

Per NIFOG, VTAC 11 is 151.1375 simplex.

(Note that, if symptomatic, VTAC is often treated with cardioversion ... :D)

That's a communications tactic that ought to be emulated more on these large fires. The Creek County fires of a couple of years ago had the 800 system tied up in knots by taking all traffic over to a NE RMA talkgroup. While it was interesting to listen to on a scanner, other users were getting pushed off the system.

Thank you, we're trying!
VTAC 11 was quite popular over the weekend... multiple agencies on multiple fires picked it as a fireground, while also being assigned for air-to-ground in multiple locations.
(sigh) at least they're not all on State Farr anymore.

Correct :D

However the confusion comes from, States making the name change at the time of Narrowbanding the radios and updating code plugs. Where many folks thought the name change was due to narrowbanding. It was just easier for agencies to make the name change at the same time they had to narrowband other channels.

Just like many T-Band users went Narrowband, altho exempt, when they had to NB the 450-460 channels in the radios

Wrong. The VCALL/TAC channels were narrowband 7.5 kHz splinter frequencies from day 1. They were never wideband.
