I've got a pair of used VX-2200 DO-50 VHF mobiles that I'm trying to set up with voice inversion for a customer with an existing Kenwood fleet that has scrambling on one channel.
I'm starting to regret even offering this up as an option to the customer instead of just making them buy some new Kenwood mobiles. I was able to source two of the FVP-36 voice inversion modules, and installation seemed to be pretty straight forward (remove lid, plug in board, re-install lid), but I'm getting no love when it comes to actually getting the software to recognize that I've added the FVP-36 Option boards.
I've gone ahead and brought both the units up to current Firmware - 2.15, I'm using CE-82 software on a Win7 machine (which I've used for years with other VX-2200 conventional radios) with a legit FIF-12 interface & CT-104A cable and I've even tried the /m switch for manufacturer's mode.
I'm still not able to get any acknowledgement that these radios even have an option board installed. I'm also starting to wonder where I could even specify the particular inversion frequency to match up with the Kenwood inversion scrambling - so perhaps I need to use something besides the standard CE-82?
Anyone else been down this path already & can show me how to avoid a few more hours of pain?
