To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all, I have a vx-3000V, ce-19D software running fine. I have a programming issue. When programming the radio for 1200 baud packet, etc, you select fsk 12/24 with spacebar for 1200 baud. After resetting the radio , then testing the radio , upon transmitt the radio puts out a continueous tone, for as long as you key up the transmitter. I made sure tone burst is off, and no other items selected on that command line for that frequency. I also looked in Common files, etc, misc, for others settings and not sure if really anything there applies to packet data use. If i remove the 1200 baud setting the radio works just fine for fm use, with no tone heard, just clean audio. I was hoping to resolve this issue for use with packet, and
tnc-x.
I currently have a setup running with the tnc-x using just 4 wires for audio in/out, ptt, ground on another radio, newer icom208h and tnc works fine with Rms Express for e-mail. Any thoughts on the programming issue for the vx-3000v ?

Hi WD4CQH. I cannot help you with your question but I would like some info if you can help. I too have a Vertex VX-300V which has been sitting in a cupboard for at least 15 years I used to have a small business). Recently, I got my Ham certification and now would like to use this radio but I cannot program it. I think I have the right cable, a RJ45 to DB-9 and I think I have the right software CE19D, but the radio shows no sign of being reached by the computer now does the software see the radio.
Can you help on that? Or, do you know where I can get a full service manual?
Now if I could read my radio I would send you the file and at least it would clear you for commercial setting and maybe solve your issue.
Thanks a bunch

Have you set up your com port? Don't know exactly where it is on your software, but on CE99 you click on
File
Configure
then chose your working com port.

Hi Jimmy, In Reply to your questions. First, i am using an old dell P-3 laptop with dos 6.22 installed, you cannot run the CE-19D (dos) software in a dos box in windows. This is old stuff. You will not be able to write to the radio unless you have the above item(s) correct. I have 2 cables. These cables are very easy to find on Ebay , i don't have a part number for you but, do what i did and search within ebay for a programming cable for the vx-3000v radios. These cables have a circuit board in the db-9 connector end and will program several different models. I bought mine from Japan ,(4 weeks) but there are other company's on ebay from $10.00 to 20.00 for the same cable. It would be wise to order the correct cable. After you get the correct cable , i used comm 1 and it began to read the radio after a bit of time.

A small learning curve to go back in time to the dos days as to making changes within the software.
Send me an email when you get to the next part of your programming. I will help you with what i know with the VX-3000 as i also have only had this one a short time.

Jimmy, also i do have a service manual, it does not go into detail at all as to a circuit diagram for the programming cable. I guess they want us to buy something else !!
I like the radio , compact and seems to work for the local repeaters well.
Let me know how it goes.

Finally. got my cable. Ran the driver CD that came with it. Changed the port assignment of the USB to Com3. Next i just opened the CE19D file right from Windows, selected comm 3 and very surprised it uploaded my existing data. entered a whole bunch of Ham freq's and downloaded ok too. I'll send you the file if you contact me with an email. t310r76@telus.net

The programming issue I had in 2012' with the VX-3000V is resolved. It's no longer a problem when you figure out what your doing wrong ! Nice little radios.
