Hey folks - just got a new VX-8R today -- odd problem: whenever I press the PTT, the radio seems to power off and power back on ... fully charged battery as far as I know.... thoughts?

UPDATE: seems like the radio doesn't want to transmit while plugged into the charger... but it works fine on battery power only (guess I need to keep reading the manual!)

CD-41 Charger

The Yaesu CD-41 charger is not designed to supply power to the radio for transmitting. It is designed to charge the battery only. Additionally, the NC-86 "wall wart" is not designed to power the radio for transmitting. Charging the battery while the radio is turned on in receive mode will pervent the battery from receiving a full charge.

The E-DC-5B cigarette lighter cord should supply sufficient current for transmission.

Check the VX-84 Forum at VX_8R : VX-8R
There is a wealth of information regarding the VX-8R

Good Luck with your radio!
