I'm looking into purchasing a portable and mobile for (soon to be) amateur radio use, and fire department use, as an alternate to the XTS/XTL lines. Our FD and amateur radios are VHF based, so it will be VHF TX/RX...Questions I have are
1. Has anyone used this radio in both conventional analog & P25 modes? How does it perform?
2. Am I going to notice a degradation in quality with the UHF receive option? (With proper antenna)
3. Are there FPP models or do I have to look into programming cables and such? (My friend has the Motorola CPS software and adapters for programming XTS/XTL radios, but I don't know if they're the same plug or if Vertex uses different)
4. Are there cheaper alternates that will work just as well?
