Until now, I have been using VX7R Commander with no issues. Today, I made a few additions and changes to the frequency list (table), as I have done many times with no issues. When I wrote (uploaded) the new update to the radio, it appears to have reset it to the original factory settings and no frequency table was uploaded.

I tried it a couple of times with the same results. I created a new table with a new build (fresh start) and pasted in the data from the old table - same thing, it resets the radio to factory new settings.

Unfortunately, I saved the file after updating the table, so I can't use the old one.

What could be going wrong? Any suggestions?

Update

UPDATE

I was able to get the table uploaded into the radio, but I can only see the frequencies, not the names I assigned to each channel. Each time I try to upload the table to the radio, it resets the settings (date, time, VFOs frequencies, key beep, etc).

I had similar problems with my old VX2 and resolved the problem.

You must have a fully charged battery in the radio and not be running on the charger.

Worked fine after that.

Most of my programming issues with this same setup (I have used VX Commander with two VX-7Rs for many years) were solved by the following sequence:

1. Connect radio.
2. Bring up radio into the program reading mode using the specified key sequence.
3. Read the radio.
4. Save the file; do NOT close VX Commander.
5. Turn radio off.
6. Turn Radio on into programming mode using the specified sequence.
7. Open the file you want to program the radio with file, and send the file to the radio.

I believe that sometimes VX Commander loses the setup settings of a given radio, (this definitely happens with band edge settings) and has difficulty until you re-read the radio. The symptom is exactly as you described, putting the radio back to factory fresh settings after a reset.

Hope this helps!
