So coming down for a concert in June and programming my Unication, obviously I see the Wake/Raleigh FD Ops channels, what about the PS Tac's? Any fire usage or anything relevant on them? Also with RDU Airport, I see there's RDU Central (47390) and then RDU ES Disp, then RDU Ops Dispatch, which is the one for ARFF and airport PD? Also on Raleigh PD District Tac's, is it partly encrypted or all the way encrypted?

When you program it please remember SITE 1 is Cary/Apex/Morrisville while SITE 2 is Wake Co/Raleigh, you will not hear both on one site, not to say there aren't a few TGs that have permissions to switch between the two. Which venue are you going to, Red Hat, CCUMP, Koka Booth, PNC?

what about the PS Tac's? Any fire usage or anything relevant on them?

After units are dispatched, on multi-unit calls (including most EMS/FD calls) they are assigned a PS Tac Ch, how much talk depends on a per call basis.

RDU Central is mainly LE dispatch, RDU ES is emergency services (CFR) dispatch, RDU OPS is airport operations, often times dispatches are cross dispatched between them.

Also on Raleigh PD District Tac's, is it partly encrypted or all the way encrypted?

Technically, all the way, however there are a few radios out there that missed the updates and you will occasionally hear them in the clear. This is the exception and not the rule.

PNC Arena and staying at the Holiday Inn by RDU, also programming a XG-75 for NAS. Yea I followed when Wake/Raleigh switched to the Cary system. We have a similar system up here in VA where certain TG's are on a certain site. I remember years ago there was a video on YouTube of Durham HWY FD responding to a call and they responded on a PS Tac, but that was on the old Wake/Raleigh system. I'm also assuming the PNC Arena is in the Downtown district for RPD? And also after importing the TG's for Wake Co Sheriff, what is the usage for the 4 different Dispatch channels and Patrol channels? Is each Dispatch for a different division like Disp 1 is Main, Disp 2 is Detectives and such, Disp 3 is for Civil and so on?

No, PNC is not in the Downton area, that should be NW district.

I seldomly listen to the SO as I'm in Raleigh, I believe Patrol is the car-car and car-dispatch for non-dispatch traffic.

Gotcha, took me a minute to find the Airport on that map. Thanks for the help

That map wasn't my creation and isn't very good for finding landmarks, but it is a guide when looking at Google maps or something else.

WSO Disp 1 is their main dispatch for the entire county. Disp 2/3 are rarely used unless Disp 1 is held (or for other special uses like you mentioned). Disp 4 is detention transports and such. The patrol channels are like the RPD Ops Channels/car to car. These are typically used for large incidents or when a private channel is needed.

And as mentioned Fire Ops are for FD only calls, PS Tac are for fire and EMS calls. PD will basically never come to a tac channel unless its patched.

Best of luck!

Appreciate it! I looked at the deprecated systems and found the old Wake County system and got an idea of it. Also looks like there are some missing Fire channels for Wake and Raleigh, looked like Wake had channels for North, South, East and West. I’ll also have Dsd plus running too so hopefully I can find some of them. Also looked at where my hotel is and it’s closer to Morrisville but since Cary, Morrisville and the other towns are mostly encrypted didn’t really see a reason to add the Cary site. Thanks all for the help

Most of those TGs, along with the BATT 1-5 TGs, are seldomly used and when they are it is more for training, or major incidents (again seldomly have them here). If they are out there I probably have caught them, but they haven't had enough traffic to catch my ear and be noticed. I have run UT V2 and Trunking Recorder since the system came alive, even before the switch and it was active.
