Wake County i.e. Raleigh PD, Raleigh FD

I have a strange Wake County question.

Why is the FD analog, while the PD is digital?

I can get both. I am jut curious.

The only analog fire is the alerts sent out to the vhf pagers, all voice traffic is digital for both agencies.

Fire simulcasts on analog VHF for paging in addition to the digital trunking system. Police is only on the digital trunking system.
