• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

154.600 and 154.570 are both MURS frequencies. They did have a Part 90 license but moved to the MURS radios several years ago. This info is from an FCC NAL several years ago.

They have no grandfathered license and just use MURS to avoid licensing should at least use the forst 3 narrow band channels though since it always short range. For some weird reason they don't use and CTCSS or DCS tones or scrambler on the radio so it keys up for anything on the channel. I worked there once and it was annoying trying to use the radio to call the manager. They think they on a business system for some reason with exclusive frequency since their not familiar with the radio or how it works. It was fun listening to the local cabbies blasting 50 watts on their mobiles over channel 5 though.

walmart must share murs within respect of sharing murs. My work crew and i have less options than them and they demand we are breaking the law and have us arrested. lol yeah its been a year. all 6 of us are still not hearing the law on us. Fact our radios are legal and everyone should be polite. murs 154.600 is legal for anyone to use. Walmart is a multi million corp. I'm sure they can have more options than what our crew has which is the two ch. they prefer to use. By law everyone may use muds as long as they are murs approved radios.

Correct, all users of MURS radios must obey the rules as MURS is a license by rule service.

My work crew and i have less options than them and they demand we are breaking the law and have us arrested.

If you are not on Wal-Mart property there is nothing they can do.

murs 154.600 is legal for anyone to use.

anyone who is using a MURS certified radio as defined in title 47 part 95 subpart J of the CFR and operating within those rules, that is.

I'm sure they can have more options than what our crew has which is the two ch. they prefer to use.

Doesn't matter, if they are using MURS certified radios and an entity can use MURS so long as they aren't a representative of a foreign government (see CFR 47 95.1301). Wal-Mart can use MURS as can your "crew". No one has an exclusive use of any channel in part 95.

By law everyone may use muds as long as they are murs approved radios.

Which includes your local Wal-Mart, should they choose to use MURS approved radios, which the ones I have been to are all using Motorola CP110 MURS radios, which are in fact, FCC certified for MURS.
