THE NEW STORE IN FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP

HAS MOTOROLA XTN SERIES RADIO THEY SEEM TO BE ON CHANNEL ONE ALL THE TIME

IAM A MEMBER OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IN THAT TOWNSHIP AND THEY STILL WILL NOT GIVE ME THE FREQ

Just look on the wall in the Layaway dept. Every WalMart I have been to has their FCC License on the wall. If that does not work, search your VHF and UHF bands. It won't take long to find them!


I searched the FCC database for you, here are some UHF's in Ohio I found:

457.300
457.400
462.425
4643700
467.1725
468.750
469.700

Keep in mind that these are all probally low power so you'll have to be close.

A majority that I've seen use 154.600 and 154.570...

There are even other VHF and UHF freqs they use, but I'd start with these two...

XTN radios use the commercial IB (iterant) band. depending on which model they have will tell you VHF or UHF.

Technically, being on a fire department doesn't authorize you to use someone elses frequencies any more than than the joe schmoe that can't use yours.

Also try the FRS channels as they use the FRS radios alot.

Once you figure out what band they are on, you have it narrowed down quite a bit. If it's VHF, it's probably one of 154.540, 154.570, 154.600, or 151.625. UHF, try 464.500, or 464.550. Best thing to do is to take your scanner in the store, remove the antenna, and search the business bands.

There is one near where I live that used to use 154.600. Now they use FRS, but I think they still have their VHF radios for the managers (I guess so they can complain about the employees to each other).
