The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Do you mean the 7 National Weather Service channels? You can find/import the frequencies by selecting "Country: United States" on the left, "Agencies: National Weather Service" on the right. I think you'd have to create the scan knob position yourself. Do you really want to scan them, though? It seems it'd make more sense to add only the one used in your area, unless you move around a lot.

If you want to set up a knob position so you can monitor WX broadcasts as needed, it's not necessary to import the frequencies or add each frequency individually. Simply name the desired knob position as "WX Scan" and set it up as Free Scan, Start Frequency 162.400, End Frequency 162.550, Step 25000. Works like a charm; the radio will locate any WX transmitter in range of your current location, so you don't have to remember which frequency is which.

I have my G5 set up with a WX Mode Zone with Local Fire dispatch only, Local P25 Spotter Talk-groups, the Local College Security who do a similar thing. The next two knob position are NOAA WX *closest Broadcast and next knob is a NOAA WX Scan. Even IF they're talking all the time and scan stops on one, you can advance the (Next) arrow and move on. I like that feature when traveling

I'd also like to set up NOAA single-channel monitoring, using the 1050 tone. However, the PPS is asking me for the P25 TG and sub group information....which of course is not used on NOAA channels. I'm finding that I cannot set such a channel up in just analog-only with QCII, which should otherwise be easy-peasy. Any tips appreciated.

In Group ID Settings, just leave the P25 columns as "No Setting". Under 2-Tone, you should select "Long Tone" as the type, and enter 1050.0 for "Tone 1" (assuming you already created a "Protocolo Parameter Setting" for 2-Tone.

Yep, did all of that. That's why I posted here. Perhaps I've got a buggy version of the PPS (4.0.30) ?

You stated a problem of PPS asking for P25 information, suggesting that that's where you got stuck. If you're still stuck, state (1) steps you've followed (2) what you expected to happen (3) what actually happened...
