Wanting 2 cheap scanners.....

Hi,

I am looking for 2 cheap scanners to be used in my house to scan ''service'' frequencies.( AIR, PUB) I don't need to put ANY frequencies in them, just scanning these bands...

Is the cheapest Mobile/home scanner the BC355C??

There is the BC340CRS for $87.95 and the GRE PSR-200U for $89.95, both at Universal Radio.

I would check Craigslist and Ebay. There are usually lots of cheap mobile/home scanners that are in good shape there. I've seen them for as low as $20.00.

I saw the Radio Shack PRO-404 (GRE PSR-100) on sale last weekend for $79 in a few stores, but not sure if it's still valid.

Pawn shops are a good source for older scanners. I see various Radio Shack 800MHz analog trunking handhelds at pawn shops for $40 to $100 all the time. I picked up my PRO-164 for $60 at a pawn shop.

Hamfests are a good place to find cheap used scanners too. In January I sold off a bunch of my old scanners at a local hamfest for next to nothing.

That is an awesome deal! I use the charger with a set of $6 Harbor Freight Ni-Mh AA's that are MUCH better than the Enercells for 1/3 the price. I picked one up a few months ago when they were $14.97 after someone posted here about the deal. I called 10 stores and finally found one 30 miles away. They've been on clearance since the holidays... so they are getting very scarce now.
