• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

No it will not work with apco 25. Icom does not make a receiver that will follow a trunked radio system. Your pretty limited to Uniden and GRE/Radio Shack with trunk tracking and/or apco25.

I have an R-20- I love it. My main monitoring targets are Air band, military air, VHF marine and some HF. It takes a while to learn the ropes, the software helps with programming. It has many features that none of the other high end wide band scanning receivers have such as the built in record feature. It also has a dual frequency receiver.

So depending on what you want it to do, it might be the right radio for you. It does not receive trunked communications and there is a chunk of the 800 mHz band that is blocked in addition to the cell phone frequencies.

Good luck

No it doesn't come with it but the CSR20 is available online if you look. I think it may be in the egroup files section but it has been a while since I "acquired" mine.

They also have the program to convert the digital recordings to a .WAV.
