I monitor my local EMS in Wapakoneta. I have recently noticed that I hear them being paged out ( conventional and Marcs systems) but no longer hear communications from the squad. I have programmed every frequency listed by Radio Reference.
Anyone have any ideas?

They are probably now using MDTs in their vehicles for response. That frees up the radio for voice communications.

And/or they’re operating on MARCS. I would bet on a combination of the two.
What is MDTs ? I used to hear we are transporting of non transport. Or what hospital they are going to. Now nothing.
Mobile Data Terminals. More often today called MCT (Mobile Computer Terminal), or often simply “the car computer.”

Mobile computers allow simple traffic such as “on scene” and so on to be done by a simple button press; automatically updates the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, and cuts down on a lot of voice traffic.
