Hi,

To watch fireworks for the 4th, I dosed up on some mosquito spray which I rubbed in with my hands.

I brought along my Pro-106 to listen in on the security detail (pretty good brawl occurred).

I noticed the radio felt progressively sticky. Uh oh. I said to myself.

Sure enough - there are fingerprints embedded in the plastic now.

Watch out for mosquito spray!

Anything that comes out of a spray can that feels the slightest bit oily or greasy can melt plastic. The active ingredient in most insect repellants, DEET, is a petrochemical product that is made from a couple of known solvents. If you look at the can, there's probably a plastic warning on the side, such as "do not spray on (plastic names)"

Lesson learned.
