Hello to all.
Does anyone know why Hackettstown Pd 154.875 have a squelch tail after every transmission. Drives me crazy.
Thanks. God Bless †

Have you tried to adjust your squelch? Reason I ask is I listen to many agencies on many bands and the squelch setting I need to use is higher for the 15x.xxx then the rest.

Thanks Mark for the reply.
Tried messing with the squelch but no difference.
I've tried on two other scanners and same tail.
Maybe the system the county is on ?? Just the police frequency does it !!

Yes W2SJW. That is it exactly. What is it ?

That’s Motorola’s MDC. Can be at the beginning, end, or both beginning and end of transmission.

On a scanner there is nothing you can do about that. Everything comes over the air if it is programmed to on the radio.

Yep, only real commercial radios that have a feature called DOS (data operated squelch) can block that, and if it's at the end of a transmission, you will always hear a split-second of it anyway (listen to the NYPD streams here to see what I mean. They block the ID at the repeater level).

Only a properly-configured system with ID at the start of the transmission is every fully blocked.
