Was originally wanting a handheld but may go with BCD536HP

I was originally going to go with the BCD436HP but may now be going to the BCD536HP. I have been told I may need to upgrade the dongle and also the BCD536HP itself with updated firmware when I get it. Does anyone have the links on where to go to do these firmware updates?

Also, being that I am extremely new to this and am out of my comfort zone with computer stuff, I would like to use the sentinel software and PROSCAN programs. Would anyone have the link to the Sentinel software so I can download that to my computer and start setting up my favorites for my area.

Any help with performing these functions would be a huge help. Thanks.

You can download the latest Sentinel here:
BCD436HP < UnidenMan4 < TWiki
Sentinel is where you get all your firmware and data updates. I don't think you will need Proscan. You can do anything you need with Sentinel once you get past the learning curve. This is an excellent scanner and software. You will not go wrong.

Is that for the BCD436HP only? I don't know if I need to get a different version if I buy the BCD536HP? Of does this cover both the BCD436HP and the BCD536HP?

The BCD436HP and 536HP use the same Sentinel Software. Real handy if you own both models which I do.
