I notice upon listening to the Washburn Co Sheriffs P25 channel that I see "P25: 801" and "P25:802" in the display at the bottom, not sure what they're used for but figured I could pass that along and somebody explain it or decode the use for them.

What make and model of scanner are you using?

Just a guess at this point, but it's possibly showing the decoded NAC. The "P25" is just telling that it is digital audio being decoded. I don't think they would be using a second NAC, but it's possible.

Knowing what scanner you are using, we should be able to tell you for sure.

I don't think they are using a second NAC, that doesn't make sense.

It was reported a while back that the Oconto County Sheriff Dept was using a second NAC on 154.7550 for Car to Car communications, so it is possible two NAC's are being used on one frequency.

I guess it is possible, but I haven't picked it up and I think box23 would have too as he follows Washburn's Digital activities.

Well, I've just been using NAC801, so I wouldn't have seen it. I might have to program in a second channel with NAC802 to see if I hear it.

NS9710, how many times have you seen 802, and do you know what tower they were on, or at least their approximate location when you saw it?

I wonder if NAC802 could be the South tower. That way dispatch would know what repeater to use without anyone having to say what one they are using.

The fire channel has different CTCSS tones, possibly for this reason. I know St. Louis County in Minnesota uses multiple CT tones like this because of the many repeaters they use.

It's not the South Tower, they have a NAC of 801 on that tower (different freq for that tower). I'll program it in and see if I hear anything on NAC 802.

Different frequency?? Please explain...

Just to clarify I know of the following:

North Fire Repeater (Lampson tower) 155.1 CT 114.8
Central Fire Repeater (Shell Lake tower) 155.1 CT 114.8
South Fire Repeater (Birchwood tower) 155.1 CT 151.4

North Law Analog (Lampson tower) 155.73 CT 151.4
North Law Digital (Lampson tower) 155.73 NAC 801

South Law Analog (Birchwood tower) 155.73 CT 151.4
South Law Digital (Birchwood tower) 155.73 NAC 801

Is there a second Law frequency?

Yes, the south tower freq is 154.9500 with the same PLs for Digital/Analog. (I submitted this to the DB, awaiting it to be posted).

They use South tower when weather gets bad and Birchwood can't hear North Law.

OK, got it.

Just an update, I have been hearing the North tower with NAC 801 most of the day. I also programmed in 802 but I haven't heard anything on it yet.

Are you sure about this. I just looked at the license and that frequency is an input frequency. The only frequency licensed on the Birchwood tower is 155.73, same as Lampson.

I think you were referring to the input frequency being different.

Yep, 100%. They have 801NAC now for digital, and before it was 151.4PL for analog. It is a repeater as you can hear the repeater hang, but it also simlicasts it on 155.730 for Birchwood.

Aka: Dispatch txs on 154.950, Birchwood rxs on 155.730 loud and clear.

Again, it's NOT an input freq, theres a distinct repeater click.

154.950 IS the input to the repeater in Birchwood with an output of 155.730. It is not a simulcast since the repeater is doing what it is supposed to do, repeat the input.

I understand that. They have a second input freq to a different repeater in between Shell Lake & Birchwood. They input on an unk input to that repeater, and then that has an RX of 154.950 that the Birchwood tower hears, picks it up, and repeats that. It's like a repeater in the middle when they can't hear eachother under bad weather.
