Can someone provide the details of this?

The Maryland counties of Washington, Allegany and Garrett, in partnership with the state of Maryland, announced plans to build a three-county radio interoperability network connecting their public-safety mobile radio systems and linking them with the radio systems of three state agencies.

Local and state authorities awarded a federally funded contract to Arinc to deploy the new system, known as Washington-Allegany-Garrett Interoperable Network (WAGIN). The system is expected to be operational as early as January 2010.

The full article about the WAGIN project can be found in Radio Resource Magazine and at the URL below.

One has nothing to do with the other. The interop system is being built by ARINC and is going to be used to link different counties and agencies in Western Maryland

The Washington Co. system is a P25 trunked system being built by Motorola.

GESUCKS:

I apologize for that, I forgot to explain that WAGIN also includes the Inter-Op system by ARINC as well as the trunked systems for Washington & Allegany Counties, however not Garrett as they bowed out as they just replaced their aging VHF Low system with a VHF High System.
