Noticing several new SARA towers around Washington County. I don't see anything in the database yet. Anyone found any active signals?

I don't believe they are up and testing yet. I'll have to ask a member of a dept up there I know to confirm this though.

I have talked with a friend who works the ambulance up there. He states that the switch will happen sometime in November.

The yellow pins are the microwave towers. I would suspect the simulcast system will be built on the same towers.

Today Washington Co is moving to their new dispatch center. Law enforcement will then switch to the new SARA system followed by Fire/EMS.

Looks like fire and EMS have made the switch. I'll find out tonight if I hear the test pages at 5:30

I'm new to scanners for these updated systems. Has anyone had any luck hearing Washington County since the switch to their new system? I just got a Uniden BCD436HP scanner. I've loaded the following but I feel like I may be missing something? Will we be able to hear Law Enforcement at all or are they encrypted so we will never hear them?

I monitored them for about 30 minutes a day or two after switching to the new system. Everything at that time was encrypted. I have not tried since.

Probably a dumb question but how did you know it was encrypted at that time? Did you pick something up but it was scrambled or did you ust not pick anything up at all?

I spoke with someone who works EMS up there and states that the Fire/EMS side is not totally encrypted. They do have some channels that are though. They are using the Unication G5 pagers. I did notice on the FCC's website that there are these frequencies listed along with the ones listed above.

Are these for testing?

All you hear is broken bits and pieces of voice. Nothing distinguishable, annoying to listen to for very long. A valid talk group and radio unit number are generally displayed however.
