I've noticed for the last few days the Washington County VHF fire paging frequency has seemingly had an open carrier. Does anyone have any insight on why this might be?

It was a stuck transmitter from the tower in the northeast sector of the county. A contracted technician doing preventative maintenance on Friday appears to have forgotten to take the station out of manual transmit. Surprisingly it took until Sunday morning until the fire community started to complain (pagers not reverting back after a page due to the carrier). Thank you for posting.

I was out of town last week and heard it when I got back Friday. I figured it was some new local noise that developed while I was away as that happens on several other frequencies. But it was persistent when I was driving around the area Saturday afternoon so I figured it couldn't be local.
