Hi all,

Any updates on this system's progress? It's been pretty dead and the control channel is rather hard to tune into outside of the county's boundaries.

A lot of testing being done in last few weeks. TRS is expected to be lit up for law enforcement sometime in April, some months later for fire & EMS. There will be many uphappy people once they realize they will need a $400-500 digital scanner to hear anything other than the limited stuff that will be simulcast on lowband.

Reception on this system is weak in southern Washington County, Jefferson County and Harpers Ferry. Even on top of the mountain at the Jefferson/Loudoun Border, it's has a very weak signal. Anyone know if the power of this system is going to be pushed up?

It may be weak in this area for different reasons. 1) The system is still being tested and is not fully functional yet. It has not been "turned on" for actual use. 2) There is still no transmitter site in the southern tip of Washington County. A few years worth of delays have been caused by a) residents who migrated from the city to build their McMansions and don't want a tower messing up the view or "lowering property values," and b) the National Park Service and local (and non-local) preservationist groups who don't want the scenic "view shed" from Harpers Ferry tainted by a tower.

From across the room, Col. Randy Wilkinson spoke into his own set.
Of course it works if you are in the same room; let's see how it works out here.

Today @ 10:45am, heard this on 13428:
"30 to Washington County, can you hear me?"

Never did hear a response. I believe this was a HPD unit. Did anyone else happen to pick this up?

Actually, 13428 is a new talkgroup. Maybe you're thinking of 13328, which was the radio techs. Besides, this system isn't scheduled to go live until the end of this month. We'll see..

Don't be afraid to use the wiki to accumulate a list of new talkgroups - that way when the list is stabilized and validated, it can be submitted to the database en masse instead of in pieces.

Any notes about things like status bits and other programming tricks (if any are needed) can also be stored there. Interesting that 3 different offsets on 3 different bands are listed in the database...73 Mike

Wrong Freqs

The frequencies on the page are wrong. If you look at what Washington County is licensed for it shows the following: 453.150 - 453.2375 - 453.2875 - 453.3125 - 453.7625 - 460.075 - 460.1375 - 460.150 - 460.2125 - 460.3875.

This needs to be changed, no one will get the correct info if they have the wrong frequencies.

Anyone monitoring this system so far this week? I have the control channel monitored via PRO96 and am seeing tons of activity and many talkgroups. Many radios affiliated, but can't get better than a 20% decode rate with a UHF antenna here in Ranson, WV. I have a feeling something has gone active on this system, but I can't receive well enough to be able to listen!

Anyone with a Pro 2096 have a table with base and offsets. Comes in so so with my 996xt and with my 2096 cc and ID only, no voice.

Lots of activity on law enforcement talkgroups, where they are doing testing. System is scheduled to go live next week, but the reason you're probably seeing IDs but no voice is that almost all the police talkgroups are encrypted. Fire is still several months away.
