AAFD started their switchover over to the MPSCS today. The radio techs were working on all of the mobile radios and dispatch consoles. However, the HVA is still transmitting on 154.175 MHz, most likely until the changeover is fully completed.

I heard dispatch make the announcement, to all the stations, that all communications are now to be on 81 Fire 1.

Then the techs were on all day, trying testing things. I just heard dispatch on VHF, and the audio was really messed up.

Does anyone know when Lenawee County is switching over to MPSCS? Washtenaw County sounds real good here in Toledo

Help please

Would anybody like program my radio (Pro-106)? I'll pay, I'm not a tech geek and don't have the time to learn how reprogram my radio since the change over. I live near the Sheriff department. Email me kipfmillerm@yahoo.com

Have you already selected what you want programmed into your radio? If not, going into the database, and getting all that sorted out, maybe even printed out, would be a good idea.

Anyone near Ann Arbor willing to help a retired LEO program a Pro 96? Would be happy to pay for your service. I only have a Mac, and other than email and surfing the web, a dummy on computers. Would be happy to bring the radio to you for programing or simply cloning. You can contact me at: Badge823@excite.com

I haven't been in that store since Ben left. He was the only one that really knew what was going on, but as usual, those people find better employment.

Well, I thought I had it right - but having issues and need assistance. I'm in the area of the the Washtenaw/Livingston county borders (US23 corridor). I have programmed in the TG for Washtenaw and the control frequencies for the Washtenaw Simulacast. I'm picking up some traffic, but it seems very scratchy. I listened to the same frequencies on the RR Liveaudio portion and the results are night/day. Can someone tell me what I have done wrong. I also listen to Livingston County and I'm hearing them without any difficulties 5/5. About the only washtenaw frequencies that I'm receiving well is that for HVAD

Here's the tower locations for Washtenaw Co, how far are you from the nearest one? You may need a different antenna for better reception. What scanner do you have?

7778 JACKSON RD
919 SUNSET
6400 Five Mile Road
4.6 miles NW of Chelsea
3600 Block of Bemis Road
20410 Gieske Road
8025 WERKNER RD
830 CLARK RD
5575 DIXBORO RD

The problem is you are trying to monitor a simulcast system. The simulcast systems uses multiple towers with the same frequencies. The scanner has a problem similar to FM Multi Path found in car radios in downtown areas where the car radio receives mutliple signals bounced off of building mixed with the actual signal. In the case of the scanners the radio receives multiple signals from different directions (Towrers) and becomes confused.

What you can do is
Change the location of your radio if it's using the scanner antenna and see if there is a location in the house that works better.
Use a beam antenna and aim it at the closest Washtenaw tower to your location.

This also depends on what scanner you use. My experience is with GRE scanners and the PSR500, PSR600, Radio Shack Pro-106, 197 are better than the Radio Shack Pro-96 and 2096. The PSR 800 is the latest scanner and the best of the bunch on multi cast.

I have heard the Uniden 396XT does pretty good too but can't really say since I don't won one.

I'm in Livingston county if you need help. I can meet you somewhere or drop by. Let me know via e-mail
