• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Now, if you do it right:

Ain’t no mountain high enough
No valley, low enough,

Just call me
No matter how far!

I'm so much into nostalgia, and you are a great contributor towards that, Whether it be radio or anything else! Great stuff on this Saturday night.

.Back to the topic, I'm with most everybody else... who wouldn't be? Especially with an older vehicle. Get your plugs or your disc covers, get your little bottle of touch up factory paint.

Drill the hole.

There’s already 136-threads arguing antenna fact.

Truth is:

We ain’t machines with TX/RX blips & boops.
We are the music.

How your automobile feels about a mag mount, ye of little faith:

Hearing spoken Etruscan off Iapetus ain’t out of the question.

Nothing is.

No one hereabouts arrived by chance.

I recently noticed water leaking in around/ using my antenna wire as a path into my vehicle. I noticed a wet floor several times after a rain. I have a 2016 ford explorer with a mag mount antenna. I had the cable running out the passenger rear window jam. I a trying to figure out a way to stop the water from traveling down the cable into the vehicle. Has anyone ran into this with some insight. I don’t plan on having the vehicle for more than a few more years.
If you’re intending staying with this setup then you will need to arrange the feeder so it passes through the seal goin upwards. Try to use an area of seal that is underneath the opening since these factors should help to reduce the amount of water that will run through.

i have seen and used bits of smallish feeder with a rubber “wedge” that allows a smooth transition around the feeder and this helps to keep the seal sealing too.

Mag mounts should be temporary solutions. As said, drill the hole or change to a different type mount if this is a more permanent/regular installation.
