• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I just got a BCD396T and I'm trying to set up the tone outs for Waterford Fire Dept. I've searched endlessly and am having a hard time coming up with the freqs and tone settings. Does anyone know where I might find them or others in my area (Oakland County-Michigan)?

I guess I was looking for a clear explanation of the tone outs listed in the database. It's my understanding you need the frequency, Tone A and Tone B. In the database here it lists the frequency and one tone. When I enter that one tone in my 396t, it says tone out of range and won't allow me to enter it.

You are probably looking at the PL tone, you need to click the link at the bottom (if one exists) that says pager tones.

Thank you very much. That works now. Just for my knowledge, what are the PL tones for?
