While driving down Courtland Ave at Borden, close call on my 396T picked up 868.1375 MHz. It sounded like a digital "barking" every 3/4 of a second or so, then all of a sudden I heard KFD dispatch, then right back to the barking.

The frequency is not listed on the Waterloo Region Public Safety page in the DB.

Anyone have any idea what this is?

Sure it is:

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=4327

Scroll down to Kitchener and you'll see it listed as a dispatch channel.

I believe the data is used for station printers and the tones used during voice.

It's also listed as a Cambridge simplex channel but I find it hard to believe they'd use it considering Kitchener's use of data on the frequency.

Thanks - I didn't check the main Waterloo Region page - just the trunking system for police/fire. I figured that because I heard fire dispatch along with some form of data, it would be potentially part of the trunking system.

Sure it is:

Waterloo County, Ontario (ON) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Scroll down to Kitchener and you'll see it listed as a dispatch channel.

It's also listed as a Cambridge simplex channel but I find it hard to believe they'd use it considering Kitchener's use of data on the frequency.

I reviewed all the Waterloo County submissions for the last decade and did not see SIM 4 and SIM 5 listed for Cambridge Fire, however SIM 1 to 3 were submitted in 2005.

Unless it is proven otherwise, I'll drop 4 & 5 from the listings.

Waterloo Regional Public Safety Trunked System

Hello:

I just noticed this morning that there are only 14 frequencies shown for the Waterloo Regional Public Safety Trunked System. Didn't there used to be 16?

Regards,
