I listen to a lot of Division 1 (Kitchener police) on talkgroup 17 but the last couple of days has been quiet. I opened up the bank & found them on 2030. Does anyone know if this is a temporary change & if the rest are going to follow?

2030 would be a patch talkgroup, indicating they are they are
patched in with one or more others. It might be temporary.

Thanks for the info! I thought it might be temporary. There was a large scale fire back in the summer that used that talkgroup & I haven't heard anything on it until now. How were you aware of this?

They just switched back. How's that for timing?

I didn't know specifically from being there because when in K-W it's about once a year in warmer weather for a day or so. Similar things happen with the Ottawa EDACS system, and others. When the FD was moving on to the system they quite a few patches which connected the new system and old conventioanl ones during transition. Patches are in the (AFS) 15-xxx range usually, decimal 1920-2047.

Quite often, I've been hearing 00-021 and 00-023 being patched together on 15-136. I always use AFS, so I have no idea about dec.

There was a period of about 2 weeks recently where Div 1 & Div 3 where patched together at night. Either they where short a dispatcher or just giving it a try. Heard one of the downtown units run a male and then asked that the info be added to his unit history, the male dispatcher (sounded new) said he couldn't do it and told him to write it down in his notebook. I was worried during those weeks but all seem to be back to normal, thought there might be a shake down or something. :shock:
