Today marks the first day of operations for the new Wayne-Westland Fire Department. This is a merger between the cities of Wayne and Westland in Wayne County, into a new fire authority to offset the costs of operating each one separately. Moreover, this consolidation could lead to the merger of other city services in both communities down the road.

Does anyone have the new radio template for this department on the Western Wayne County TRS?

Hmm interesting. I can tell you right off the bat from just typing this it sounds like they are still using their own tg's for now. I just heard 203 (Wayne FD unit) call in on the Wayne FD TG. I will have to pay closer attention to what units are calling on what TG's.

I thought it was still separate departments, but a shared chief.
I believe that's how it's gonna work.

I'll be visiting Westland on Wednesday and I'll be sure to get in touch with my friend who is a Westland FD Captain. If I get any first hand info I'll post it here.

If anything changes I'll try to get into the Dispatch center and get some first hand info.

//edit:
Though if they would consolidate into a single department it wouldn't be that bad. Most of south Westland is under Station 3's jurisdiction which is in a middle of tiny strip of Westland in Inkster (look at the city boundaries). If Wayne Fire Station would become available for south Westland Palmer and Glenwood areas would have much better response times.

I was thinking that the new fire authority would renumber one of the former department's trucks, so they would fit into the new scheme of doing things?

I've just heard different tone out (faster, higher pitched, still recognizable from other systems) on TG 41840 I have saved as Westland FD Station 3 tone out channel. It was Base 2 (Wayne) calling headquarters (I assume Westland FD) about a rescue to a BP station in Wayne.

I still don't have full understanding of how it works but I hope we can figure it out.

Fresh info from Westland Dispatch room.

As of now Wayne will be toned out on what shows in database as Westland FD Station 3. The channel that shows up as Station 5 (not existing anymore) is actually Station's 3 tone outs.

Merging departments in a single one will most likely be limited to moving dispatch centers into Westland's. At least for now.

Also switch into MPSCS is likely in next few years.

Could a mod merge my posts and admin update the database.
