Eddie Ball, WB4QAU, passed away on Saturday, December 15th at his home in Newnan, GA. Eddie was 67 years old and retired from public safety communications in 2008 after holding several positions with Coweta County Government (see email below). He was also a RR member and I had the pleasure of knowing Eddie for several years, working with him on the Georgia NENA Board and chatting with him on RR after his retirement. He will be greatly missed.

Please post this information to APCO, NENA, the Georgia 911 Directors Association and any other locations that you see fit to get the word out to the 911 Community:

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Retired Coweta County E-911/EMA Director Eddie S. Ball. Eddie was a longtime Coweta County employee who served as Deputy Sheriff, Justice of the Peace, Magistrate Judge, EMA Director, and was the first 911 Director. He started the Coweta County 911 Center in 1990 where he served as EMA and 911 Director until his retirement in 2008. He was a Georgia POST certified Instructor, Member of Georgia APCO, and Former President of Georgia NENA and the list goes on and on. Eddie was an advocate for 911 and the entire 911 community benefitted from his knowledge and experience.

Per Eddie’s wishes a private family service was held. Coweta County E-911 will be honoring him with a Time of Remembrance at the Coweta County E-911 Center at 195 International Park, Newnan, GA 30265 on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up for Eddie’s son and donations may be made to the Tinsley Hope Ball Kidney Fund at Bank Of Coweta, 192 Temple Avenue, Newnan, GA 30263.

For any further information contact the Coweta County E-911 Center.

Please keep the Ball family and his 911 family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Arlene Whisenhunt
