Over the last several weeks, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of folks wanting help with their WS1040s or WS1065s (or their Radio Shack cousins). We have a getting started article for those radios here- it already has links to the Easier to Read guide, the guides for both ARC500 and Win500, Trunking and several other topics. There is a chart at the top that shows the various model numbers between GRE, RS (which actually offered these radios twice under different model numbers) and Whistler to ensure you are looking at the right article. Please feel free to point newcomers to;

If there are other topics -remember to keep in mind that this article, like the others we have in the wiki, are designed to guide a newcomer - that you think should be added, feel free to do so.

We have numerous other getting started articles, too - see these pages for an index;

and for the Unidens, see the Available FAQs and DMA Related topics of...

These should pretty much get anyone started with most of the scanners currently out there, along with several older models

This is an excellent idea. Although Whistler sells these radios new they are from years ago when these rebranded GRE radios were sold by Radio Shack under different models starting in the early 2000s. Excellent radios in their day.

Kudos on the "getting started" series on various models of scanners. It is important to direct members to it. (y)
